Cadaqués: a Weekend Without a Checklist

Cadaqués: a Weekend Without a Checklist

Every year, we have this small tradition that we deeply treasure: escaping to Cadaqués for a weekend. It’s located about 170 kilometers from Barcelona, just a little over two hours by car, and the moment you start winding down the road towards the coast, it feels like stepping into another rhythm entirely.

We’ve visited Salvador Dalí’s iconic house in Portlligat at least three times in the past, so this time we decided to skip the sightseeing checklist. Instead, we embraced a much slower, more contemplative mindset. We spent our days wandering between quiet, hidden coves, listening to the waves against the rocks, and simply getting lost in our books.

Since we already have the habit of waking up early built into our daily routine, this time we took full advantage of it. We got up with the first light and headed straight to one of our absolute favorite spots for breakfast: El Casino, also known as Societat l'Amistat. Starting the morning there, quietly watching the town wake up while enjoying a good coffee, was a wonderful way to begin the day.

It was exactly what we needed: no rush, no schedules, just time to breathe, read, and take in the magic of Cadaqués.
